Disclaimer: This is not a book summary, but the key takeaways. The sole intention of this article is to cultivate the reading habit and motivate the reader to buy the book.
I strongly recommend you to buy the original book (‘Who Moved My Cheese’ – by Spencer Johnson) from the bookstore or online and read it! ๐
Mastering change in work and life is essential for success and staying ahead in life.
Last weekend I was going through the bunch of books I have on the bookshelf and picked the one which can be read within an hour or two. I started reading the book named ‘Who moved my Cheese? – An amazing way to deal with change in your work and in your life by Dr.Spencer Johnson” and found it really simple to read, understand, and implement. Before I write what’s there in the book, let me take you back to your childhood.
I remember in my childhood there were dial phones, then push-button phones. After that, there was a craze for cordless phones. Then Pagers were launched. But the biggest game-changer was the launch of a mobile phone. Particularly after the launch of smartphones, there is a tremendous shift in everyone’s life. Do you remember the first movie you watched in a single-screen cinema hall? If you are from the multiplex generation then you won’t be able to correlate. ๐ Now we either go to multiplex or stream online. The way we were shopping earlier by visiting the store and, the way we shop after e-commerce took over the traditional way of shopping is totally different.
So the point which I am trying to make here is, the only thing that is constant is the Change and if you adapt to the change and upskill yourself you will be ahead in your life.

Introduction
“Who moved my Cheese? – by Dr.Spencer Johnson” is a short and simple story that reveals truths about change. It is a story of four imaginary characters who live in a ‘Maze’ and look for their own special cheese.
‘Cheese’ is a metaphor for what you want to have in life – whether it’s a good job, an amazing relationship, money, good health, or peace of mind. And ‘The Maze’ is where you look for what you want – the organization you work in, or the family or community you live in.

4 Imaginary Characters
Now let’s get to know more about the four characters in this story. The characters are imaginary and, intended to represent the simple and complex parts of ourselves, regardless of our age, gender, race, or nationality.

Two are mice. One is named ‘Sniff’ who sniffs out change early and the other one is ‘Scurry’ who whisks into action.
Two are little people’ – beings the size of mice who look and act a lot like people. Their names are ‘Hem’ and ‘Haw’. The hem is a stubborn personality who denies and resists change as he fears it will lead to something worse. Haw is an opportunity seeker. He learns to adapt in time when he sees changing can lead to something better!
They all love Cheese and go to their favorite place to get Cheese. One fine day their Cheese disappears. Then what they do get the new Cheese? Do they get it quickly? Or do they need to struggle to find it? Well, to get the answers to these questions, you have to read this book ๐
In a nutshell, this book gives a message if you want to win, you should be ahead of time and you should not hesitate to adopt new changes.
