What do you generally do once you wake up in the morning? Most of us start our day by checking our mobile phone and scrolling through social media accounts. Well, I am not saying it’s not right but certainly not recommended. What you do in the morning sets the tone of your day and helps you to be more productive throughout the day.

I know, most of you must have already set your daily routine however, below are a few things which you can easily add in your daily routine.

Wake up early

Getting up early gives you a kick start for the day ahead. If you see the most successful entrepreneurs, celebrities, sportsperson, one of their success mantras is to start the day early. Honestly, it is not easy but certainly not impossible either. What it all takes is determination and persistence. If you are waking up at 7 AM regularly then do not set the alarm of 5 AM very next day. You might be able to wake up for a day or two, but there are very high chances that you will again wake up at 7 AM on the third day. Rather you can reduce the time of your alarm by 15 minutes every week till you reach 5 AM. So the first week set the alarm for 6:45 AM, next week set it for 6:30 AM and so on. It is also important to get adequate sleep, so go to bed early so that you will not feel sleepy throughout the day. There is a book which talks about this topic. “The 5 AM Club: Own Your Morning. Gratitude

In simple words, Gratitude is an act to appreciate what you have and say Thank you!
Start your day with gratitude. Once you open your eyes in the morning before you get out of your bed, count your blessings. Take out at least a couple of minutes to say Thank you to God / Universe for this new wonderful day. There are enormous benefits of practicing gratitude on a daily basis which we will see in subsequent posts.

Meditation

One of the best ways to declutter your thoughts and calm your mind.
The most important thing to note here is, to choose the right place to meditate. It is equally important to seat in the right posture and, in a comfortable position (in a chair / on a yoga mat). It is recommended to seat in a place where you will not get disturbed by others. Make sure that the place is clean and clutter-free. You may use essential oils and aroma diffuser to make the surrounding more vibrant.

There are many ways to do meditation. You may choose to close your eyes and just focus on the sound such as the sound of the ceiling fan. Some people prefer to meditate with an instrumental soundtrack in the background. Some people prefer a guided meditation where you are guided by someone and you have to focus on their voice. Exercise

Health is wealth! If you are doing the exercise regularly then Kudos to you!
If you are not doing the exercise regularly then now is the time. Do any physical activity of your choice for at least 45-60 minutes every morning. Yoga, Jogging, Gym, or play an outdoor sport which you like.

Eat Healthy Breakfast

There’s an old saying: “Breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince; dinner like a pauper.”
Choose the menu right for you. Get it designed by consulting your doctor/dietitian and make sure to have your breakfast early not later than 8:30 AM.
